Christina Ezemenaka, DrPH, MS

Hometown: Fairfield, Alabama
Tell us about what you will be working on in your new role. In my new role, I will work with the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) Team as biostatistician to help improve cardiovascular and other related health outcomes among study participants.
We are meeting you for the first time – what would you like for people to know?
I grew up in sweet home Alabama, mostly Birmingham, Alabama. I’m the mother of an energetic one-year-old boy. I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I earned degrees in music, mathematics, and biostatistics. I initially started out as a music major in college and studied classical piano. Along the journey, my mom suggested that I study mathematics, as well. I took her advice—and the rest is history. Biostatistics is replete with learning and creative opportunities, challenges to conquer, and collaborative research. I am excited to be in a profession that is both practically and intellectually stimulating.
What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC?
I am excited about collaborating with JHS investigators on various projects. Also, I look forward to working with the coordinating center team not only to ensure the quality and reproducibility of data but also to make meaningful contributions to projects as a research team member.
