Here are some 2025 New Year’s resolutions and words for the year from across the Department
- This year, I’m focusing on taking better care of myself so I can be at my best for teaching and patient care. I’ll make sure to get enough sleep and rest before work, and I’m planning to squeeze in at least 20 minutes of exercise every day to stay healthy. – Ashish Gummadi, Hospital Medicine
- Be kind to one another – Colleen Cannon, Infectious Diseases
- I would say “I’m going to take more steps than Dr. Horn” or “I’m going to run faster than Dr. Harvey,” but since we know that neither of those is going to happen and that goals should be achievable, I’ll just go with the word “FOUR.” As in the FOURth quarter of the game. Games are won or lost in the fourth quarter, and since I just had a big decade birthday and am starting quarter FOUR, I have made some “coaching adjustments” (thanks, Dr. Weatherly) with plans to finish the game strong! (Unlike Texas and Penn State.) – Mike McMullan, Cardiology
- 1. Incorporate exercise back into my routine with the goal of running a 10K in under 10 min/mile. 2. Reflect more often through journaling my thoughts and experiences. – Jonathan Dismukes, PGY-2
- My two words for the year – Growth and Gratitude – Tulip Jhaveri, Infectious Diseases
- Continuously strive for personal and professional growth. Commit to lifelong learning by gaining new knowledge every day. Expand efforts in community charitable work. Foster discipline and accountability in all aspects of life. Serve as a source of healing and hope for patients and colleagues. – Uzair Munaf, PGY-1
- Don’t sweat the small stuff – Bryan Barksdale, Cardiology
- Balance physical and spiritual health and make holiness a priority. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Rola Abi Saleh, Geriatrics
- Live in the moment – Adil Mohyudin, Hematology/Oncology
- To bike/peloton the distance across the US over the year – Brandon Bergeron, PGY-2
- To spend more time leisurely reading novels sitting on my bookshelf! I own too many books that I need to read. Blake LeBlanc, Chief Resident
- My New Year resolution is to do some form of physical activity 3-4 times a week and complete 10 MKSAP questions daily! – Siri Yarlagadda, PGY-1

- My word of the year is Purpose. It’s easy to lose sight of the purpose of what all of us do every day. Getting weighed down in the weeds and busy work can make things seem dull, but if we remember to lift our heads up and look forward, it can be refreshing and help keep us focused. – Anonymous
