Dr. Zerelda Esquer Garrigos, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, served as Vice-Chair and second author of a new AHA scientific statement on blood culture-negative endocarditis. The paper, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, is also endorsed by the International Society for Cardiovascular Infectious Diseases. The paper discusses new diagnostic approaches for blood culture-negative endocarditis, which is estimated to be up to 30 percent of suspected cases of endocarditis. Watch the highlight video here.
