Dr. Vishnu Garla has been named Division Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Dr. Garla joined UMMC faculty in 2015 and has been an instrumental leader in growing the division’s clinical, education, and research programs.  Garla is an Associate Professor of Medicine and has previously served in leadership roles including Associate Division Director, Associate Program Director of the Endocrinology fellowship program, and Associate Medical Director of the UMMC Clinical Research Trials Unit.  He has been active in several clinical trials and serves on a grant funded by NIH/NIMHD.  He was also recently awarded a large Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) grant to investigate optimal implementation strategies to control diabetes.  Dr. Garla has published around 50 manuscripts and serves as Editor-in-Chief for Endocrinology Statpearls.
