Reaching the goal of becoming a medical professional entails a multitude of transitions. It’s a process. In my case, the first two decades were filled with uncertainty about the viability of becoming a physician.
Dr. Prakhar Vijayvargiya is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Co-Director of the Transplant ID Program, and Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Here, he shares a bit about his background, what brought him to UMMC, and what has kept him here.
This year, the Department celebrated an overall fantastic fellowship match. Thirteen of our residents matched into UMMC fellowships and nine of our residents matched elsewhere for fellowship.
