Dr. Zerelda Esquer Garrigos, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, co-authored a Scientific Statement from the American Heart Association published August 31, 2022 in Circulation regarding Management of Infective Endocarditis (IE) in people who inject drugs.
Dr. Thomas Dobbs, former state health officer for the Mississippi State Department of Health, has been named Dean of the John D. Bower School of Population Health. Dr. Dobbs, an infectious disease physician, will also be joining the Department of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases.

Welcome Dr. Sanjana Kapoor and Dr. Chaudhry Saad Sohail to the Department of Medicine! Dr. Kapoor has joined the Division of Nephrology and Dr. Sohail has joined the Division of Hospital Medicine.
We welcomed 57 interns and 26 fellows to the Department of Medicine this month! This includes 25 categorical, 1 primary care, 5 medicine-pediatrics, and 26 additional preliminary or rotating interns who will spend anywhere from 6-12 months in the Department.
