Dr. Demondes Haynes has been named Associate Dean of medical school admissions. Dr. Haynes is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. He has been serving as Executive Vice Chair of Medicine since fall 2018.

A native of Louisville in Winston County, Dr. Haynes has been part of the UMMC family since entering the School of Medicine 24 years ago. He earned his medical degree in 1999 after majoring in biology at the University of Mississippi. He then completed his residency and fellowship at UMMC.

Throughout his career, Dr. Haynes has excelled as a student, physician, teacher and mentor. He was Intern of the Year, Chief resident and an All-Star Clinician. In 2012, he was named Teacher of the Year for the Department of Medicine and was a 2014 finalist for the Regions TEACH Prize, which recognizes teaching excellence.
