On November 11, 2019, the Department of Medicine once again remembered two of our late outstanding pulmonologists, James Griffith (“Grif”) and William “Chappie” Pinkston, at the annual Griffith/Pinkston Memorial Golf Tournament. We had one of the best turnouts this year with close to 100 residents, fellows, faculty, and sponsors participating in the event. The money raised through the event supports our Trainee Scholarship Fund, which provides the sole means for our residents and fellows to gain the essential experience of traveling to present their scholarship. This fund has now sent more than 150 of our department’s trainees to regional, national, and international meetings to represent our department and lay the foundation for their careers. Thank you to all of those who donated and participated, and we hope that many more will consider doing the same when we hold the Griffith/Pinskton Memorial Golf Tournament in 2020.
