Recap: 2020 acp abstract day

UMMC Department of Medicine and American College of Physicians (ACP) hosted the 2020 ACP Abstract Day virtually on October 29th. Approximately 90 posters and 6 oral presentations were delivered by students, residents, and fellows from UMMC and statewide.

Congratulations to the winners in each category:

Basic Science Research: Alexis Witcher, UMMC 3rd year medical student
Clinical Research: Katie Cranston, UMMC 3rd year medical student
Quality Improvement & Patient Safety: Dr. Himmat Brar, PGY-2, internal medicine  
Clinical Vignettes: Aalaap Desai, UMMC 4th year medical student

Each of the winners will be automatically entered in the national ACP Abstract Competition, which will take place in April 2021.

A special thank you to the judges and to all those who helped make the day possible: UMMC ACP Residents Council President Dr. Ashley Villarreal and the entire council, Fellows Council President Dr. Catherine Lowe and the entire council, Dr. Jessie Lavender, Dr. Lucas Buchanan, Dr. Meredith Sloan, Executive Director Sarah Wardrop, and all of the faculty judges for all of their hard work in the preparation and execution of the event.
