The Department of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center continues to thrive due to support from our faculty, graduates, and trainees. Your contributions have supported scholarships, educational opportunities, and expenses incurred presenting research and scholarship. Dr. Javed Butler, Chair of Medicine, would like to announce a new fund to be used solely to support research and educational needs for trainees in the Department. “The Trainee Scholarship Fund has been wonderful in helping our trainees travel to and from meetings to present scholarship, but we need monetary resources for things other than travel, such as educational materials and conference registrations to help them continue on the path to becoming the best and brightest produced by UMMC,” says Butler.  

As you know, research is a vital component of training throughout residency, but discretionary funds are not readily available to ensure our trainees have adequate access to opportunities in their disciplines. To continue providing exemplary education and specialty care, your support is needed.
