Recap: ACP Abstract Day 2023

The Department of Medicine and American College of Physicians hosted the 2023 ACP Abstract Day on October 26th. The day included 103 posters and 6 oral presentations delivered by students, residents, and fellows from UMMC and statewide.

Congratulations to the following winners in each category:

Quality Improvement – Matthew McMullan MD, UMMC – Utilization of Intravenous Iron in Patients with Systolic Heart Failure

Clinical Vignette – Jenna Benge, medical student, UMMC – My leg feels like cement: Compartment syndrome with non-traumatic rhabdomyolysis and acute deep vein thrombosis    

Clinical Research – Santana Holloway MD, UMMC – The Role of Seasonal Variation in Responsiveness to Immunotherapy     

Basic Research – Nathan Usry MD, UMMC – High Fructose Consumption in the Zebrafish Animal Model: An Evaluation of Genomic Alterations seen in relation to Lipid Deposition in the Liver
