Dr. Kimberly Harkins was awarded the Laureate Award for the Mississippi Chapter of American College of Physicians (ACP) on May 31st at the 2019 MS/AL ACP Annual Scientific Meeting in Jackson, MS. The Laureate Award honors Fellows and Masters of the College who have demonstrated excellence by their example and display a commitment to excellent in medical care, education, or research and in service to their community, Chapter and the ACP. Dr. Harkins is an Associate Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Hypertension and serves as an Associate Program Director for the internal medicine residency program. She has been involved in medical education at UMMC since her chief resident year in 1999 and she joined faculty in 2000. Prior Laureate Award recipients include Drs. John Bower, Patrick Lehan, Kenneth Bennett, Helen Turner, Joe Files, Swink Hicks, Richard deShazo, Shirley Schlessinger, and Dan Woodliff.
