The 2019 Excellence in Research Awards ceremony were held on October 25, 2019. There are four award levels based on the total amount of eligible extramural research funding received by an investigator. Dr. Deborah Konkle-Parker (Infectious Diseases) was awarded the Platinum Award for receiving $5,000,000 total in funding and will receive $10,000 each year for five years. Drs. Licy Yanes Cardozo (Endocrinology, Cell and Molecular Biology) and Michael Hall (Cardiology) each received a Gold Award, which is for those who received $1,000,000 total in funding and each will receive a $10,000 cash award. There were 18 UMMC award recipients for fiscal year 2019.
