Dr. Catherine Lowe, PGY-5 in Cardiology, was selected for the “Emerging Star” Award by UMMC’s Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS). The GWIMS organization, an initiative of the AAMC, seeks to advance the full and successful participation and inclusion of women within academic medicine by addressing gender equity, recruitment and retention, awards and recognition, and career advancement. The local GWIMS chapter honors distinguished individuals who have substantially impacted as well as have made significant contributions to the UMMC community and the larger community as a whole.
