Harsesh Amin, MD

Dr. Harshesh Amin

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

Residency: Carolinas Healthcare Blue Ridge

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself: I was born in India and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I went to medical school at Ross University School of Medicine. I’m passionate about sports especially NBA, NFL, Golf and college football, Go Buckeyes! Big fan of traveling and hoping to much more now that I have completed residency and have more time to myself. I’m an extrovert and love to meet new people. I’m excited to be part of UMMC and can’t wait to meet many more new faces!

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I’m excited to be working with residents, fellows, attendings, and the many staff of different specialties and to learn all the vast pathology that is seen at a tertiary care center which I was not able to do coming from a residency program at a small community hospital. 

Josh Butler, DO

Dr. Josh Butler

Hometown: Flowood, MS

Residency: UMMC Internal Medicine

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself. After growing up in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, I got my undergraduate degree at Auburn and my medical degree at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine before coming to UMMC for residency. I love all things Auburn and sports. If there is a game being played, I usually am trying to be a part of it.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? Being a member of the great internal medicine department here, and continuing to work with the residents and students.  

Will Crews, MD

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? Continuing to work with my colleagues, interesting medical cases!

Katrina Johnson, MD  

Dr. Katrina Johnson

Hometown: Long Beach, MS

Residency: UMMC Internal Medicine

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself:  I completed my undergraduate degree in Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University. Go Dawgs! I completed my medical education and residency at UMMC. My husband works in the Toxicology lab here. We enjoy virtually any outdoor activity including hiking, camping, kayaking, working in the garden as well as playing with our two large rescue dogs, Kali and Freya. 

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? The faculty, residents, and students among others make UMMC an enjoyable place to work. The patients that UMMC serves allow providers the opportunity to meaningfully impact others on a daily basis. Lastly, the pathology seen is quite diverse leading to many educational opportunities. 

David Riem, MD

Dr. David Riem

Hometown: Hernando, MS

Residency: UMMC Internal Medicine

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself: I grew up in Hernando, Mississippi, an area that enjoys rural living while being just a few miles from Memphis. I went to undergrad at Mississippi State University (insert cowbell here), and then a smattering of things before finding my way to UMMC to study medicine. My favorite pastimes include reading, running, and piano. Faith and family are important to me, and I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. 

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I look forward to teaching rounds with residents and medical students. Furthermore, I look forward to working alongside colleagues and faculty I trained with during residency. 

Megan Toole, MD

Dr. Megan Toole

Hometown: Houston, Texas

Residency: UMMC Internal Medicine

Fellowship: Cardiology, UMMC; Interventional Cardiology, University of Illinois At Chicago (UIC)

Division: Cardiology

Tell us about yourself. I grew up in the great state of Texas, predominantly Houston, Texas. I completed medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. I completed my Internal Medicine residency and General Cardiology fellowship here at UMMC. It was during my General Cardiology fellowship that I developed an interest in Interventional Cardiology and my journey took me to the University of Illinois-Chicago where I completed Interventional Cardiology fellowship.  In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, cycling, travelling, and hanging out with friends and family.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the education of the next generation of physicians. Additionally, I look forward to joining the Cardiovascular team in providing excellent care to patients of UMMC.
