Alejandro Lemor, MD, MS, Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, has been named a top early-career interventional cardiologist by being selected as one of “30 in Their 30s” honorees by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions. The award recognizes early-career interventionalists who “epitomize the qualities expected of future leaders in interventional cardiology.

“I’m honored to be selected by SCAI to receive this award,” Lemor said. “Early in my cardiology training, I’ve always tried to contribute to the field of interventional cardiology and be a leader and educator.

“I’m thankful for all the support I had from my mentors, and, of course, from my family.”

Board-certified in interventional cardiology, general cardiology, echocardiography and internal medicine, Lemor joined the Medical Center in 2022.

“Dr. Lemor has been an excellent addition to our faculty,” said Dr. Michael McMullan, professor of medicine-cardiology and director of the Division of Cardiology at UMMC.

“He has trained with some of the top interventional cardiologists in the country and has brought expertise to our division in the area of complex coronary artery disease, especially in the area of CTO – chronic total occlusions. His recognition by SCAI is well-earned and well-deserved.”
