Let’s go behind the scenes with one of the many who work to make it all happen – Jasmine Magee. Jasmine shares about her role at UMMC. Thank you, Jasmine, for all you do!
Tell us about what you do at UMMC. As the Administrative Assistant III in the Endocrinology Division, I wear many hats. One of my responsibilities includes assisting the Fellowship Program Director in designing, implementing, and managing the administrative and academic operations of the fellowship program. This involves coordinating evaluation meetings and fellow educational activities each academic year, organizing Clinical Competency Committee Meetings and Education Review Faculty Meetings, and taking minutes. In addition, I create and maintain fellows’ files, coordinate monthly schedules with the VA, keep a master list of conferences and conference attendance sheets, and manage licensure information such as state medical licenses, ACLS certifications, and NPI numbers. I assist with ACGME annual required meetings and online updates, schedule semi-annual meetings with fellows and program directors, and send reminders of deadlines. I also handle scholarly activities, travel expenses, requisitions, and supplier invoices in Workday, and coordinate payment of invoices, processing of travel and expense reimbursements, and maintenance of receivables. Additionally, I provide support to our nine providers, four fellows and three nurses by assisting them with managing EPIC schedules, triaging patient calls and updating call schedules. Other responsibilities include, faxing and scanning files, preparing agendas for department meetings and conferences, scheduling meetings, scheduling lunches, preparing applicable records, reports, and correspondence, creating, maintaining, and updating databases and spreadsheets of regularly scheduled reports for tracking and analysis, and managing office supplies inventory.
How long have you worked at UMMC? I originally came to UMMC in 2014, however, due to the COVID outbreak and virtual school, I went home for 8 months to be a stay at home mom. I have been back at UMMC for three years now.
What do you love about your job? There is never a dull moment in Endocrinology! I learn something new often and I enjoy building connections with those that I come in contact with daily.
What things make your day brighter? I am a humble ray of sunshine in our department. My goal is to be a support to them and help them in any way I can, but also accomplishing my goals for the day.
Tell us something about yourself that many people do not know. On December 19, 2019, my husband delivered our fourth child – a baby girl – unexpectedly at home. My water broke and let’s just say we didn’t have time to make it to the hospital. Within 4 minutes of the fireman being on the scene, Jaslyn was born. I didn’t know until a later date that it took over 45 minutes for my placenta to pass. We spent one day in the hospital. So thankful to God that our baby girl and I were fine. I’m a proud wife and mom of four beautiful children. I also own a t-shirt business.
This in no way surprises me. Jasmine is a lovely, talented and sweetheart in every aspect of life. Anyone who knows or privy to be in her presence is TRULY blessed 💕
Jas.. keep being the woman God created you to be and all your desires and dreams will come to fruition 🙌🏽
