Welcome new faculty members to the Department of Medicine and UMMC!

Riley King, DO

Hometown: Demopolis, Alabama

Residency: Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, UMMC

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself. I am a born and raised Alabamian but happy to call Mississippi home. I am thrilled to have just completed med-peds residency here and even more thrilled to be staying on as faculty! If I’m not in the hospital you can find me out and about with my best gals or with my goldendoodle Sherman.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I’m looking forward to my first year as an attending with the hospitalist group and continuing to care for the people of Mississippi!

Taylor Mabry, MD

Hometown: Meridian MS

Residency: Internal Medicine, UMMC

Division: Hospital Medicine

Tell us about yourself: I grew up in Meridian but moved to Jackson after high school. I’ve been here since then for college, medical school, residency, and fellowship, so I consider it home. Aside from Jesus, the most important people in my life are my wife and children (2 girls, 3 and 5 years old). I spend most of my free time playing with them or watching football.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? After internal medicine residency, I did two years of fellowship in allergy followed by two years of community practice. I’m looking forward to getting back into internal medicine and working with some really great colleagues.

Trey Redd, MD

Hometown: Brandon, MS

Residency: Emergency Medicine, UMMC

Fellowship: IM – Critical Care, UMMC

Division: Pulmonary and Critical Care

Tell us about yourself. I grew up in Brandon, MS and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi. I am happily married to my wife Marianna and we have a sweet Maltipoo named Pippin. My hobbies include reading, playing golf (poorly), and most all things musical. I also have a passion for all things grilling and barbeque (specifically Central Texas Style, if you know, you know). I am trained in both emergency medicine and critical care, and I will be working in both departments as faculty.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I am most looking forward to continuing to teach learners of all levels and fostering the growth of the next generation of physicians. I am excited to utilize both of my roles in the ED and the ICU to serve the needs of our state and work alongside the same team that shaped me into the physician I am today.

Tommy Skelton, MD

Hometown: Jackson, MS

Residency: UMMC Internal Medicine/Pediatrics

Fellowship: UMMC Cardiovascular Diseases, UMMC Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Division: Cardiology

Tell us about yourself.โ€ฏ I am pretty much the definition of a UMMC โ€œlifer.โ€โ€ฏBetween medical school, residency, and two fellowships, I have spent nearly 13 years โ€œin schoolโ€ here at UMMC. My father spent his entire career as a cardiologist here at UMMC and trained many of the mentors I have spent those years learning from. When not at the hospital, I enjoy flying, a little bit of gardening, reading, restoring old mopeds, and collecting old coins. Ask me again in a year and Iโ€™ll find some other hobby to add on to the list! My other full-time job is parenting my baby daughter with my lovely wife Elena.

What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC?โ€ฏ UMMC has given me so much over the years, and I am looking forward to a chance to give back to the programs, friends, and mentors who got me this far. I am excited to help expand the Adult Congenital Cardiology program to care for the ever-growing population of Mississippians who reach adulthood with congenital heart disease.
