Several new faculty have joined the department this month. A few are highlighted here. Welcome Drs. Fryoux, Majors, and McManus!

Dr. Jordan Fryoux
Hometown: Gonzales, LA
Residency: Internal Medicine, UMMC
Division: Hospital Medicine
Tell us about yourself: I grew up in south Louisiana and attended LSU A&M in Baton Rouge for my undergraduate studies. I attended medical school at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport where we I met my wonderful wife, Elizabeth. We completed Internal Medicine residency at UMMC and Elizabeth now serves as one of the Internal Medicine chief residents. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing golf and tennis, and attending LSU athletic events.
What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? Serving and connecting with my patients while continuing to grow my medical knowledge and clinical skills.
Dr. Lance Majors

Hometown: Doniphan, Missouri
Residency: Internal Medicine, UMMC
Division: Hospital Medicine
Tell us about yourself. I grew up in Illinois and later Missouri with my parents, Les and Mary, and my older brother, Curt, until I attended college at Ole Miss. Twelve years later and I haven’t left Mississippi. There is something warm and welcoming about the people and a richness to the culture of the state that kept me here. My wife, Shanna, and I have been married 7 years and have made Jackson our home, just miles from the medical center, for that same time as well. We find joy in our Christian faith and attend church in Jackson at Grace Community Church. She and I like to travel and enjoy getting out on the water when we can whether we are swimming, boating, kayaking, or at the beach.
What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I’ve taken an interest in healthcare advocacy and disparities in the state. As an academic hospitalist at UMMC, I look forward to the opportunity to learn from our diverse population and pursue research in these areas. I plan to reach out to others to spread awareness and promote involvement in bridging some of our most burdensome healthcare gaps. If you catch me in the hall you might also hear how excited I am about starting a new procedure service in the department and teaching point of care ultrasound to the residents with an all-star group of clinicians. I am so thankful for such an awesome group of people that I get to work with here at UMMC!

Dr. Lauren McManus
Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA
Residency: Internal Medicine, UMMC
Division: General Internal Medicine and Hypertension
Tell us about yourself. I most enjoy spending time with family and friends, listening to country music and boating on the water!
What are you most looking forward to working at UMMC? I am most looking forward to working with residents at UMMC, focusing on my professional growth, and providing our patient community with quality healthcare.
