As our time as chief residents comes to a close, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to the entire Department of Medicine family here at UMMC.
Serving as your chiefs has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our careers thus far. This year has been filled with challenges, growth, learning, and of course, many memorable moments. We have had the opportunity to work alongside an extraordinary group of residents, fellows, faculty, staff, and medical students whose dedication to patient care, education, and one another continues to inspire us every day.
To our residents, thank you for your resilience, compassion, and commitment to excellence. Watching you grow into confident physicians and leaders has been incredibly rewarding. Your hard work, humor, and camaraderie, even in the midst of an “extended internet outage” are what make this program truly special.
To our faculty and program leadership, thank you for your mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support. The investment you make in trainees extends far beyond residency and leaves a lasting impact on each of us.
One thing that was made much more obvious is that what we are a part of is more than just a training program —it is a community. It is a place where lifelong friendships are formed, where difficult days are met with support, and where we are continually challenged to become better physicians and people.
As we transition to the next chapters of our careers, we carry with us the lessons, relationships, and memories that have shaped us during our time here. We are proud to have served as your chief residents and confident that the future of our program is bright.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. It has been an honor to serve alongside you.
Not to be overly corny.. But this isn’t goodbye, but simply “we’ll see you later.”
Cheers,
Lee, Anna Lauren, Wilkes, and Matthew
