Dr. Andrew Brown has authored a timely article in the American College of Cardiology magazine discussing burnout, wellness, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The article, entitled “Wellness For Cardiovascular Trainees in the Era of COVID-19” discusses Mississippi’s experience with the pandemic as well as national cardiology fellows-in-training (FITS) wellness data and potential actions, both systemic and individual to combat burnout.

The Trailblazer Teaching Award recognizes educators who have demonstrated a record of innovating, engaging, and inspiring others through their service to students in the School of Medicine.  Ten faculty were awarded this year from the Department of Medicine.

Congratulations to the many trainees and faculty who presented or presided at the Southern Regional Meeting and Southern Society of General Internal Medicine meetings last month in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Javed Butler, Chair of Medicine, would like to announce a new fund to be used solely to support research expenses for trainees in the Department. Please consider making a year-end gift to the University of Mississippi Department of Medicine to our unrestricted fund.
