The Department of Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, has formed a Section of Interventional Pulmonology (IP). Dr. Michal Senitko, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery will serve as the inaugural section chief. The Interventional Pulmonology service at UMMC was created over 3 years ago by Dr. Senitko and Dr. George E. “Trey” Abraham III.
Dr. Hassan Cheema, PGY-VI fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care, shares about himself and his time at UMMC.

UMMC is starting eight clinical trials in the next days and weeks related to COVID-19. Drs. Gailen Marshall and Jason Parham both are serving as principal investigators in several trials with many other faculty members also involved as co-investigators. Dr. Michal Senitko, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery, has been named Co-Director of UMMC’s Cancer Center and Research Institute’s Lung Cancer Early Detection Program. Dr. Senitko completed his internal medicine residency and his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at UMMC. He also completed an additional interventional pulmonology fellowship at Yale University.
Dr. Andrew (Andy) Wilhelm is a faculty member in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. Dr. Wilhelm is currently serving on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic in his clinical role and is also part of UMMC’s COVID implementation team.
