Dr. Licy Yanes Cardozo has been named Director of Resident Research for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Yanes Cardozo is an Associate Professor in both the Departments of Medicine and Molecular and Cell Biology. Dr. Yanes Cardozo has been awarded numerous accolades on campus, including the Department of Medicine Research Fellow Award, multiple Excellence in Research Awards, and the Stanley Chapman Young Investigator Award.

UMMC Department of Medicine and American College of Physicians (ACP) hosted the 2020 ACP Abstract Day virtually on October 29th. Approximately 90 posters and 6 oral presentations were delivered by students, residents, and fellows from UMMC and statewide.

The Department takes on a major role in COVID-19 Clinical Trials
UMMC is starting eight clinical trials in the next days and weeks related to COVID-19. Drs. Gailen Marshall and Jason Parham both are serving as principal investigators in several trials with many other faculty members also involved as co-investigators.
